To begin, we will load an existing structure into Olex. There are three ways to load a structure:

• On the main menu, select File > Open File
• Click on the image in the toolbar above
• Type 'reap'

You can type at any time; there is no need to click on the main window first. What you type will appear in the bottom left hand corner of the main Olex screen (the command prompt).

The 'Open File' dialog box will appear. Navigate to the folder 'Sample Structures/Sucrose' that is provided with the Olex installation and select the sucrose.ins file.
